AUS 40

Aqueous urea solution 40 or AUS 40 is the other type of DEF usually used for ships. It reduces Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions from vessels and sometimes from the other diesel engine exhaust systems. Marine Urea is injected into the diesel engine exhaust systems and reacts with nitrogen oxide gas emissions. So this solution converts the harmful emissions to water vapor and Nitrogen. We are here to help you be familiar with the AdBlue for ships.

Why Azure?

Azure is southern California’s DEF and coolant leader and wholesaler that wants to help you fulfill your handling and storage ambitions. Our company delivers AUS32, AUS40, and 50% Urea-Aqueous products in bulk DEF solutions, mini-bulk storage, or a diesel exhaust fluid tank for diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.

As an API-certified DEF manufacturer in California, we are ready to supply 40 percent DEF Products. We pride ourselves on the Azure solutions, especially AUS 40, produced to the highest purity and quality.

Urea 40% Vs. 32% Vs. 50%

All these three are DEF products, but they have different application that distinct them with each other.

Urea 40%

Urea 40% or urea solution 40, referred to as marine DEF, is usually used in high-combustion diesel engines, such as Marine Diesel Engines.

Urea 32%

Urea 32% (AUS 32) is the most common diesel exhaust fluid containing 32.5% urea. It is ideal for heavy-duty diesel trucks. It is also used for other industrial applications.

Urea 50%

50% Urea or 50% urea aqueous is a solution that is used for diesel boilers. The high urea concentration takes up less volume to use smaller storage crafts. This solution has a higher freezing point (18°C) than the others, so it must be kept in circulation.

What is Marine DEF Made of?

Aqueous Urea Solution 40 is the Marine Grade Urea Solution for marine applications made from different raw materials. Now, look at the marine urea specifications.

Features of Diesel Exhaust Fluid 40

  • Non-toxic
  • Non-polluting
  • Non-hazardous
  • Non-flammable
  • Convert harmful emissions to harmless ones
  • Increases fuel efficiency
  • The freezing point of AUS40 Solution is around 0 C°
  • Meets ISO 18611-1:2014

Why Marine Diesel Engines Need DEF?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid 40 is used in high-combustion diesel engines like water-based crafts. If you want to remain compliant with federal and state environmental regulations, urea solution 40 is necessary for your vessels.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for Marine Engines

With diesel engine maritime transportation contributing considerably to environmental pollution, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for NOx Emissions Control Systems is becoming more crucial for air quality improvements. AUS 40 is a Nitrogen Oxide reduction agent that has been specifically developed for use with SCR systems in marine vessels.

AdBlue for the marine industry is produced to strict quality standards specified by ISO 18611-1:2014 and will help the longevity of the catalyst in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. SCR is the only NOx reduction process that is approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and can be eliminated harmful emissions by up to 99%.

Using High-Quality DEF for Ships

Using high-quality AdBlue is a serious matter. The catalyst in a marine SCR system is enormously costly. Suppose a low-quality AUS40 Solution is used for the SCR system. In that case, the impurities may block the SCR catalyst, and it becomes less effective, useless, and cause problems to other system components. So, it is necessary to choose a high-quality AUS40.

Supply of AUS40

Azure is one of the best global suppliers and manufacturers of AUS 40 grade marine urea in marine SCR systems. Our company provides AUS 40 with the highest quality and purity to ensure that DEF 40% is suitable for your marine fleet.

AUS 40

We can supply AUS40 both onshore and offshore. Our position as a Southern California leader in DEF production offers you different packaging and sale options. In addition, our company helps customers maintain and regulate the purity of the residual AdBlue in their storage tanks.

How Should Aqueous Urea Solution Be Stored Onboard a Ship?

Aqueous Urea Solution is stored in the vessel’s tank. The tanks are usually made of compliant material by ISO 18611.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Marine DEF

Pros of using Adblue:

  • Contributes significantly to air pollution
  • Reduces harmful emissions
  • Prevent respiratory diseases

Cons of using Adblue:

  • If the tank is emptied, water pollution occurs, and the SCR causes damage to the catalyst in the system.
  • Aqueous Urea Solution is corrosive.
  • Increase the cost of marine vehicles

Conclusion

In recent years, The EPA approved a new standard for diesel engines, so this plan requires all diesel vehicles, mainly marine diesel engines, to use diesel exhaust fluid to reduce harmful emissions. AUS 40 is a valuable asset for the marine industry that can fulfill the goal.
